Mr. Ryan Quinn
Mr. Quinn has been playing a stringed instrument since the age of three. He started on violin through the Suzuki method and then switched to cello when he was in the fifth grade. Throughout grade school, he played in the Detroit Symphony Civic Youth Ensembles, attended Interlochen Fine Arts Camp, Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp and Detroit Symphony Summer Institute, and participated in MSBOA Solo and Ensemble Festivals. Upon graduation from Walled Lake Schools, Mr. Quinn attended Central Michigan University to study music education. He student taught in Troy Schools with Kathy Griffith, and has guest taught in Walled Lake, Birmingham, and Troy school districts. Directly out of school, Mr. Quinn landed in Bloomfield Hills Schools, where he taught 4th and 5th graders for three years. He joined the Troy Athens High School Music Department in 2015. He also has a private lesson studio through Detroit Violin Company in Berkley. In May of 2018, Mr. Quinn graduated summa cum laude from Marygrove College with a Masters in the Art of Teaching while teaching full-time in Troy.
When he's not teaching, Mr. Quinn enjoys spending time outside. He enjoys kayaking, hiking, snorkeling, snowboarding, and camping. He enjoys doing all of those activities with his dog, Luna. When he's not outside, he can be found watching college football, basketball, and the Detroit Tigers.
