New Orleans & Memphis
Spring 2019
August 2018
Dear Orchestra Families, Believe it or not, it is time to start thinking about our 2019 spring trip! Why so soon? Our 2019 trip is going to be much larger as we are traveling to Memphis, Tennessee AND New Orleans, Louisiana! I wanted to prepare you early on, so we can fundraise both individually and as an orchestra to help offset the costs associated with this trip. You can sign up and start making payments as early as today with the information in this packet. We will be traveling with the Athens Choirs as well. This will be a great chance for our students to travel with their friends in choir and will increase our trip participant number. Our trip will be six full days, March 27 – April 1 (including travel both ways) and three nights. We will spend one day in Memphis seeing Graceland and the city, then we will continue on to New Orleans to learn about culture, history, and get a chance to work with a University Orchestra conductor. I have attached our most up to date itinerary and inclusions. On the right side of the page, you have a brief overview of the events we will be participating in, as well as the activities in which the students will get to participate. There is also a payment “how-to” guide and information on signing up. We will also need chaperones, and it is a goal of AOPA’s to provide financial assistance to chaperones for this trip. If we do not have at least 100 participants between both orchestra and choir, the trip will be cancelled. Any number of participants under 100 greatly increases the price for each individual on the trip, putting us out of budget. Due to the nature of taking 18 months to plan this trip, another trip will not take its place if it is cancelled. Sincerely Yours, Mr. Quinn |
